Choosing a beach to pass the day on Naxos Island is a challenge! It is literally a selection between the best of the best and that is never an easy choice. As far as we are concerned, a day on each until you can decide which suits you best is a great idea! However, this is our proposal of the top 5 Naxos beaches:
Agios Prokopios beach is fantastic, featuring golden sands and turquoise waters. It is a good place to start from. In one word, Magnificent! A long light colored stretch of thick sand with turquoise waters and popular beach. Food and fun from early till very late with young people everywhere. The beach is well organized, with amenities everywhere except at its quieter northern section.
Agia Anna beach is amongst the busiest beaches, a continuation of the beach of Agios Prokopios. Long and secluded with a small picturesque port that has a series of really good taverna and bars. It is a good place to be if you want to have it all close by.
Alyko beach is a quiet retreat with beautiful natural wild growth surroundings framing a perfect picture. This is where you want to be if you want a little seclusion with peace and quiet in pristine surroundings.
Moutsouna beach is the much further from Naxos Town and is actually two beaches with fine grained sand. It is a long round trip from town but well worth it because of the views offered by the meandering road. The journey is rewarded by the really good food to be enjoyed at this quiet village with its quaint ambience reminding people of how island life was on Naxos over half a century ago.
Psili Ammos beach is known for its fine sand (as its name states), its shallow waters and its cedar tree forest offering natural shade to all visitors. It has only recently been discovered by tourists, so, if peace and quiet is what you seek, this is your beach. It gets a bit busy only during the high season.
Maybe it is time for you to decide which are the top 5 beaches of Naxos. You too will realize how hard it is to make such a selection.
